St. Peter Griffins
Syrup was selected in the [blue]second round (7th overall)[/blue] of the [blue]2011 Inaugural UFSL Draft[/blue] by the [blue]St. Peter Griffins[/blue].
Syrup, was drafted as a [blue]fullback[/blue] without the Griffins having a running back on the roster. This caused many to question Griffins GM [blue]Tommy Hoang[/blue]’s judgment in the draft. He later drafted [blue]Marcus Kennard[/blue] from [blue]Michigan State[/blue] but the speculation continued. Hoang often alluded to Syrup being converted into a full time running back, something he had not done since middle school. [blue][citation needed][/blue] Syrup has not yet stepped foot onto the field in the [blue]UFSL[/blue] but he is still looked at as one of the young stars of the new league.
Syrup as openly stated his friendship with both GM [blue]Tommy Hoang[/blue] and teammates [blue]French Toast[/blue] (the team’s [blue]middle linebacker[/blue]) and [blue]Marcus Kennard[/blue] (the Griffin’s [blue]running back[/blue]/[blue]wide receiver[/blue]) made the Griffins the number one place he wanted to land.

Pros:
Size – Syrup is a complete monster of a football player. At 6’3” and 249 pounds, he has the ability to power over smaller defenders.
Speed – Syrup may be big, but lead blocking his entire career has allowed him to keep his speed up with his backs. He was one of the fastest fullbacks in college.
Blocking – It’s just what he does. He has always loved to be a blocker. Run blocking, pass blocking, it doesn’t matter where you need him, he can help out.
Cons:
Running Ability – Though not really a con, it is more of a big question mark. No one has seen him run the ball consistently enough to see if he has much ability. He was a decent goal line back for [blue]Penn State[/blue]
Pass Catching – Syrup has hands of stone. He has never been a great pass catcher even though he has always wanted to be. He lets easy catches bounce off his hands and cannot jump very high to catch errant throws.
Lifestyle – He has always lived in the comforts of [blue]Happy Valley[/blue] and has never had to deal with much adversity. Will he be able to adapt to a new lifestyle in St. Peter and will he be accepted by teammates despite his schools issues?
