The New York Nightmare arguably had the best draft in the league. Many non-Nightmare members want to admit it, but they have to realize it. Perhaps the biggest thing that makes the Nightmare so good, is the outlook of the offense. Each player has had a history of success and that usually translates into current success in these leagues. Today we will take a look at how these guys fared in the last football league, Victory Football League (VFL). Let's get started.
QB - Tom Rayder
VFL TPE: 158
VFL Position: OLB/CB
VFL Pos. Rank: 1st/3rd
Tom Rayder was by all means a steal in the VFL. He played outside linebacker for the Wellington Hurricanes before making a switch to cornerback in the second season of the league. Rayder was a force at his position, leading in TPE, and putting fear into opposing quarterbacks and running backs. It is hard to make an impact at the outside linebacker position, but Rayder was one of the rare exceptions to that. In this chapter of his football life, he will take on the challenges of being a quarterback and leading an offense. Based on what he has shown in the past, he should be able to excel and become one of the best at the position. The Nightmare thought so highly of Rayder, manager Usain Bolt decided to change himself to tight end and hand Rayder the keys to the offense.
RB - Brandon Iceman
VFL TPE: N/A
MSFL TPE: 647
MSFL Position: QB/WR
MSFL Pos. Rank: 4th/2nd
Brandon Iceman was not part of the VFL but he was a major part of the MSFL. He was actually the guy who started off MSFL's reign that last for quite awhile. He disappeared from football for awhile but now he is back and ready to shake off the rust. Iceman started out as a quarterback for his first three seasons before making the move to receiver for one season. He excelled at both positions and also led his team to many victories over his career. Iceman was a huge selection for the Nightmare because if he can recapture even just a small percentage of his former dominance, he is going to be one of the elite backs in the league.
WR - Christopher Miller
VFL TPE: 142
VFL Position: RB/TE
VFL Pos. Rank: 3rd/1st
Chris Miller was the number one overall selection of the draft, too nobody's surprise. Miller and SSHB have an extensive history of playing together and it will continue here. Miller became known from his days at Madden Madness, at least to many of us like myself. He was a dominate force there and he went into the VFL and imposed his dominance yet again. He was the running back for the championship winners the Amsterdam Haze before being sent away to Manila and changing to tight end. Of course at the end of that league Miller forced his way off of the Haze, also managed by SSHB, so the relationship here will be uncertain. It seems things are patched up as he did take Miller first overall. Miller was drafted as an athlete which ultimately translated to the wide receiver position. He will be the team's top threat at the wideout position and arguably the entire league.
WR - Jimmy Graham
VFL TPE: 163
VFL Position: CB
VFL Pos. Rank: 5th
Jimmy Graham was a bit of mystery headed into the draft. By that I mean he, like the other guys, has the extensive background of success but it was unclear how dedicated he was to this league. The Nightmare threw that uncertainty to the side and selected him early. It was a good choice as Graham seems to be ready to get going. He was a force in the VFL at the cornerback position and was also manager of the runner-ups the Barcelona Bulls. He was able to rack up a ton of TPE while missing a few weeks of updating along the way, so the potential for him to be even better is certainly there. Graham should continue to work hard here just because his manager SSHB is his best friend in the sim league community. That alone will not allow him to give up on his team even when he loses interest, which he has done in the past.
TE - Usain Bolt
VFL TPE: 212
VFL Position: QB
VFL Pos. Rank: 1st
Usain Bolt was originally slated as the team's quarterback, until he sacrificed his own position to make the team better by drafting Rayder. Now he steps in as the tight end but also the slot receiver on most plays. Bolt has not been interested in leagues since the fall of the VFL but when he is fully dedicated to a league, he is arguably the most consistent player in the league. He should not only become the best tight end in this league but will battle for the top spot as the most talented player in the entire league. He has done it in the past which extends to his time in Madden Madness and there should be no question that he can do it again. Not only will he be dominating on the field, but he will be leading his team from the sidelines as the general manager. Bolt may play one of the non-glamour positions on offense but the impact he makes should be immediately known.
QB - Tom Rayder
VFL TPE: 158
VFL Position: OLB/CB
VFL Pos. Rank: 1st/3rd
