Hello everyone, I'm Jonathan Coachman, you are watching Sportscenter on ESPN. We have some exciting news in the football world. The general manager of the fourth team in the upstart United Football Sim League is having a press conference right now, discussing his team and what he hopes to achieve. Let's go there now.
Mr. Toast, we understand that this is the first time you've signed up to be a part of the league in some time. Can you explain why you left the game and what made you come back to the football scene?
I chose to exclude myself from the game for a few reasons. You see, I was transitioning into a period where I was going back to school to get an education. I went back, got my Bachelor's in Business Management. Took over Blockbusters, ran it into the ground, got fired, and well, here I am. I have nothing else to do, why not?
What made you change your name from Tommy Hoang to French Toast?
Well, I was in Barbados with my boy J. Cole while he was shooting his video for Can't Get Enough. Lovely country, by the way. Anyways, I wasn't really digging the food they had there, so I hired a personal chef who spent a week in the States. He got deported, but that's not important. He told me the only American foods he knew how to cook was beef stew, clam chowder, sutffed acorn squash, and french toast. I'm going to tell you now, the first three he made were god awful. The french toast, however, was downright amazing. Best I ever had. That's all I ate for the entire trip, and I even brought Raul back with me to the States so he could continue cooking me french toast.
Interesting. We hear you were hand picked to lead one of the UFSL's team as a general manager? What do you have to say about that?
That is true. I was surprised to hear I was selected, as I've been away for a while, but I guess the league office trust me and that's all that matters.
Where are you planning on running the team?
For location, I decided to pick the place I stayed at while I was with Jermaine. We were at Mullins Beach and I was thinking about how much I loved the place. After we returned from the Barbados, I looked up houses and bought a nice villa with an overview of Mullins Beach. When I found out I was to be a general manager, I knew that I wanted to give the great parish of Saint Peter a football team.
And the name?
The name? The team name will be the Griffins, the legendary lion with the wings and head of an eagle.
Why the Griffins?
I was sleeping one night. This was way back when I was playing for the Bangkwang Convicts. I had a dream that I was flying on the back of a lion that had wings, a griffin. It took me to a woman, the most beautiful woman I've ever seen. A few days later, I saw the same woman in the movie "The Hangover Part II". I swore I'd marry her, and three years later, I'm happily married to my beautiful wife Jamie Chung.
That's a great story. The St. Peter Griffins. That has a nice ring to it. Well, that's all the questions we have for today, any last words before we let you go?
I just wanted to thank the commissioning office for trusting me and believing that I am fit to become the general manager of the team. I want to say thanks to the city of Speightstown for agreeing to host the Griffins and that they will not regret it. I promise that they will be a championship town. Thank you everyone.
