The New York Nightmare head into week 1 facing a tough task in the St. Peter Griffins. After losing their preseason game against the Stormtroopers, the Nightmare are hungry for a victory. They have arguably the most talented team in the UFSL but as we've seen in other professional football leagues, IE the Eagles in the NFL, talent doesn't always amount to victories.
This week the Nightmare are going to put a lot of emphasis on getting a rushing attack going as well as stopping the opposing rushing attack. Brandon Iceman will be a key factor for the Nightmare's offense. If he can get it going, it will help the passing attack get going as well. However this is typically the same plan for all teams to abide by. It is all about the execution of the run plays they call and mixing up the playcalling enough to keep the Griffins defense on their heels.
Looking at it from the defensive end the Nightmare will have there hands full with running back Maple Syrup. He is a bruising back that has good speed and quickness. He had a rough preseason game but he certainly has the potential to run over defenses. The Nightmare will put much of the emphasis on middle linebacker Al Capone to be the main guy to stop Syrup. Capone is one of the best linebackers in the UFSL, so if anybody can stop or slow down Syrup, it would be him.
Overall it should be a tough battle and it will come down to whoever can run the ball better, should win the game.
