Roster Size
1) Roster size is set at a minimum of 13 players, and at a maximum of 18 players.
2) There are different kinds of players that will appear on the Madden roster.
Human players are the most important. That is us.
There are a number of CPU players. Some will use default settings, some will have higher default settings, and some will have training applied. No CPU players will have their stats kept under routine circumstances.
3) Offensive and defensive linemen will have team training applied weekly by the teams GM or co-GM. This training will be set at 5 TPE per week per player. These linemen may have names given by the team. They will all be of the same height and weight between each team. They will have similar numbers as per positions on other teams. This decreases confusion for simming purposes.
4) Kickers and Punters will also have team training applied. This will be applied once in the pre-season. It will be paid for by the team's budget. These special team players may have names given by the team, They will all be of the same height and weight.
There are two kind of CPU players.
5) Default Players - Regular default players will go by the first name of "Default". Their last name will be the position that they play. They will have the basic template of points, and no more added. Madden requires 3 QBs on its roster. Default QB1 and Default QB2 exist, although they will never see any playing time.
6) BOTs - five special default players will be added to each team at the end of the pre-season. These Players will go by the first name of "Default" as well. Their last name will be their position. They will have the basic template of points added. Depending on the their name, they will be assigned an additional 50 points, just as done in the Player Creation Guide. The names of the players, and the points added:
BOT-TE: +25 run block +25 catch
BOT-WR: +25 speed +25 catch
BOT-LB: +25 speed +25 tackle
BOT-CB: +25 speed +25 accel
BOT-DB: +25 speed +25 aware
These players may not change attributes. These players may change positions prior to the start of the season, but may not change positions after the season starts. These players will not change names. They will not receive and performance points. If they cover a starting position, then stats will be kept for them. If they are in a back-up role, stats will not be kept for them. BOTs are meant to be temporary, and are meant to be released, so that money is available for incoming rookie free agents.
These players are at no cost to the team. If a GM wants to release any number of these players, they may do so with no penalty.
If a team already has over 13 players on its roster at the start of pre-season, it must decide which BOT(s) to release. Maximum roster size is 18 players, including both human and BOT players
