With the UFSL Entry draft coming up, the four teams that were announced were the Reno Predators, Seattle Stormtroopers, New York Nightmare, and the St. Peter Griffins. And with many great players announcing their intentions to join the UFSL, one player caught our eyes, middle linebacker Dominique Johnson out of the University of Miami. We caught up with Dominique at his house and asked him about his draft plans.
ESPN: So Dominique, why the UFSL?
Dominique Johnson
DJ: Well, I was always looking to join the NFL, but I never did enough to garner interest from NFL scouts and my agent told me about UFSL, a new football league starting up. I applied for the draft and here I am. I had no idea though what would happen.
ESPN: What happened to your friend Pan Blanco out the University of Florida?
Pan Blanco
DJ: Well first, I applied for the UFSL and I told my friend Pan about it. He said he would join. I don’t know the exact details, but when he heard that there would only be four teams and that there were already six quarterbacks that applied, I geuss he thought that he would have a better chance in the NFL. All I can say is that good luck to him.
ESPN: So the draft is coming up soon. Where would you like to go?
DJ: Well, I would just be happy to be drafted. Out the four teams, my personal choice would be the Seattle Stormtroopers. I just loved Star Wars when I was a kid and would love to play on a team related about it.
ESPN: What is the deal with you saying that you’ll change your name to Vadar?
DJ: Ha. You heard of that. Yes, if I do get drafted by Seattle, I will legally change my name to Dominique Vadar or something like that.
ESPN: Do you believe that you are the best MLB coming into the draft?
DJ: I want to be honest about this. Personally, I don’t believe I am. I think my counterpart Tyler Barabash is the best MLB even though he is listed as an athlete and will play anywhere. Also, I would love to play in a 3-4 with Tyler and clean up the middle with him. Imagine. Bash and Vadar.
Barabash
ESPN: Certainly awesome. So in the Draftee game, you had 4 tackles and 2 of them for a loss. But you also had 3 dropped interceptions. What will you do to get better?
DJ: I’m not a WR, but those were passes I should’ve caught, especially the one at the end of the game. That would’ve ended the game. Luckily, we were able to stop them on their fake spike, but it shouldn’t have come down to that. I feel like I could’ve won the game. All I know is that I’ll just get on the practice field and if needed to, I’ll run some routes for our QB so I can catch better.
There you have it folks. Dominique Johnson, or soon to be Dominique Vadar, looks like a true MLB and a future staple of any defense.
