Rookie Free Agents 1) Rookie players made after a draft will be eligible to enter the league as a restricted free agent and sign a one-year contract. At the end of that season, those players will enter the off-season rookie draft pool. 2) Offers may not be formally accepted until 24 hours after the first offer was made. This gives the other GMs an opportunity to respond. This 24 hour waiting period will not be in effect if all team's have made an offer, and the free agent may accept at that time. The maximum amount to be offered to a rookie free agent is $2M. 3) Roster freezes for player transactions are effective as of Week 6 games. Any rookies made after that time will need to wait for the off-season draft to sign a contract. Veteran Free Agency 1) When a player's contract expires at the end of the season, he is placed into the free agency pool. After the free agency period has begun, GMs and co-GMs may negotiate a contract with the free agent. 2) Offers may not be formally accepted until 24 hours after they were issued. This gives the other GMs an opportunity to respond. This 24 hour waiting period will not be in effect if all team's have made an offer, and the free agent may accept at that time.
