Things are brewing up in Reno before the season even starts. The team was all set to have two of the top WRs in the league in Devin Street and Staphid Jervis, and to potentially dominate the league through the air, with only the combination of Chris Miller and Jimmy Graham looking to be in their class. The team drafted several other players who signed up for the league at that position, but expected to be able to move the players to other positions. Sure enough, most of the players complied, even though it might be tougher to adjust to a position different from where they played in college. Even the well-known wideout of Madden Madness fame, Devonta Duncan, agreed to move for the sake of the team.
However, Dave Hester, a late round pick, has chosen to make his stand and not move positions. The team was planning to move him to strong safety. However, there was no contact with him prior to the selection or even after really, and he would not move.
There are two sides to the story. One side, favoring Hester, shows that the GM really should have contacted people to gauge their interest in moving, and perhaps with this would either have been able to convince Hester to move or simply look elsewhere if he was adamant.
The other side, favoring the GM, is that most of the players in these leagues change positions pretty much at whim, and he mightn't have been anticipating a problem. Valid reasoning, considering that players such as Ezekwesili have moved position already even on the same team.
The additional piece of information that might make this story more interesting is that Hester claims to have one of the highest ratios of active seasons to championships in sim history. That statement obviously implies, if not states outright, that Hester is a vet in disguise. If he wants to play WR over two other vets, it might be wise to reveal his identity if he is a vet. Rumor has it that Devin Street might be willing to switch to anything other than CB if Hester proves to be worth a WR spot. However, there is something to be said for not having untested players in higher positions such as WR, so the GM's stance on this (not knowing Hester) is understandable. If he is already proven, he should make that clear.
