Well, another sim league, another inaugural draft, and another case of many position changes. Every inaugural season of every sim league starts out with all those extra players at some positions, changing positions to fit their team’s needs. There are the extra running backs, which always exist in every league, who just couldn’t admit ahead of time that they were, in fact, not as good as the top four guys at the position. There’s the one active guy to make a fullback, only to have his future GM have nothing of that and ask him to change to a more needed position.
And then of course, there is the most flexible position of them all: the athlete. The position that people use when they are too lazy to make up their minds ahead of time where they want to play, and instead have their future GM make the decision for them, based off of the team’s needs. As this league in particular had an astounding number of them, including the top four drafted players, I will be going over these here first round athletes.
Christopher Miller – Advantage
Ah yes, good old Advantage. Always a reliable pick, and very well would have been able to stay at whatever position his little heart desired. Nonetheless, Miller should be a great player regardless of his position and one of the best faces to have in the locker room. And given his past relationship with the Nightmare GM, it certainly wasn’t much of a surprise to see him go first overall.
Where will he be playing? Right now, rumor has it that he will be the Nightmare’s number one receiver, apparently catching passes from Tom Rayder.
Darrell Jones – bda28
Well, apparently a lot of people weren’t capable of reading where it was clearly stated, twice for that matter, that I am Camo0309…but yeah, I am. After the original plan to go through with quarterback Kurt Bradford fell through after an abundance of good quarterbacks, Darrell Jones stepped in. And instead of going with the most difficult to change position, I went with the most flexible.
Where will he be playing? As of now, reports out of St. Peter are saying that Jones will be stepping in as the Griffins’ top cornerback, catching passes from, well, the other three teams’ quarterbacks.
Tyler Barabash – Bash
Like the previous two, Bash is another guy that could play literally any position he wanted to, have his GM be perfectly alright with that decision, and then excel above all others at that position. The only surprise in his case is that he actually managed to drop as far as he did. Yes, being the third overall pick is a huge drop for this guy, regardless of who else is in the league.
Where will he be playing? After a name change to Lord Vader to fit with his team name (the Stormtroopers), it was seem that he is set to anchor the Seattle defense at middle linebacker.
Rock Afella – InstantRockstar
No offense to IR, but if I have ever seen a top-heavy draft, this would have to be it. When you go from guys like Advantage, myself, and Bash with the first three picks and then someone like IR with the fourth, you know that team with the last pick came out of this draft quite unlucky. But hey, Afella will still be a good player, even if he isn’t up to the standards set by the previous three guys.
Where will he be playing? I might be mistaken, but by a look at his player thread, It would appear that he shall be quarterback for the Predators, throwing passes to Devin Street and the recently discovered prima donna, Dave Hester.
