AP Newsbreak: Dick Lane Signs with Reno By AP Staff 5 Minutes Ago
In an interesting decision, NFL legend Dick Lane was offered a contract to play with the Reno Predators. It was wondered if Lane would even be offered a contract in the UFSL due to his age, however half of the teams in the league requested his services.
“I am humbled by the opportunity, a’n I feel like I have a fresh start. I won’t let the great fans in Reno down,” Lane said.
Lane ultimately chose Reno over Seattle. The Griffins showed moderate interest, but never actually offered Lane a contract. Lane was somewhat vague in his explanation as to why he chose Reno over Seattle, or didn’t wait for an offer from the Griffins.
“Like I said earlier, I’m very grateful about the opportunity that Seattle a’n Reno gave me. But for me, the decision was easy. I felt like I could be eased back into football in Reno. I’ve also had spats with guys, and sometimes it is easier to get in with a new group of guys.”
Lane will be competing for a starting cornerback position with Reno, but reports have come in that Lane told Griffins management that he would consider playing free safety after initially stating that he would only play corner.
