New York Nightmare @ St. Peter Griffins
Remember that hotwire I did last week about the intriguing matchup between the number one overall pick wide receiver and the number two overall pick cornerback? Yeah, that would be this game. Of course, that’s just one of many aspects to make quite the important role in this game.
In this first ever matchup between the two division rivals, we will see whether or not the Griffins defense can handle a high powered Nightmare offense that features guys like Tom Rayder, Christopher Miller, Jimmy Graham, Usain Bolt, all capped off with an underrated running back in Brandon Iceman. Of course, that Griffins defense does hold a few big names of its own in French Toast, J.D Boom, Darrell Jones, and some could include Brady Lynch. But with the amount of holes out there, those Griffins will certainly have their work cut out for them.
However, with guys like Al Capone, AJ Rockin’, and Rick Ross, the Nightmare defense isn’t one to glance over either. So basically, this game depends primarily on whether or not the Griffins are going to be able to keep up with the Nightmare, on both sides of the field.
My prediction: Nightmare 10, Griffins 3.
Reno Predators @ Seattle Stormtroopers
Here, we have a matchup between the two preseason “winners,” in a Western conference matchup. While the other game has the highlight of the top two draft picks at receiver and cornerback, this game features the third and fourth draft picks at “field general” of their respective sides of the field. The Predators feature their fourth overall quarterback Rock Afella while the Stormtroopers feature their third overall “quarterback of the defense,” middle linebacker Lord Vader.
Like the other game, this one features more of an offensive team up against more of a defensive team. Spending three of their first four draft picks on offensive players, not to mention their GM being an offensive player himself, it’s pretty easy to tell which one the Predators are. And spending four of their first five draft picks on defensive players, although one of those four did wind up switching to offense so I guess you could say three of the first five, it’s not too much harder to tell which the Stormtroopers are.
I have underrated the Predators once already, albeit in a preseason game that doesn’t even matter, but I can’t help but think that that Stormtroopers defense is just too good for them. And at the same time, I can’t help but wonder whether the Predators are going to be able to contain Ikechukwu Osuwah on the ground.
My prediction: Stormtroopers 13, Predators 6.
