With some extra money he had stored away, Reno Predators player Devin Street rented a limousine and a few large suites at the Bellagio Hotel. Going to Vegas was always something he wanted to do at some point in his life, and now with regular money coming in from football and being on a team relatively nearby, he decided to do it. He gathered up some teammates to join him. Quarterback Rock Afella was the first to sign on, with wide receiver Staphid Jervis not far behind. Running back Elijah McNugget joined up later in the day, and that night, cornerback Little Planet got back to him and added his name to the list.
The next day was a hectic Thursday of planning and setting everything up for the weekend. While Street was making calls to the hotel, Night Train Lane walked in and by the end of the conversation, he was the sixth member of the traveling party. After Drew Hamilton and Dominique Johnson joined, Street had to call the limo company and hire a second limousine for the trip.
Friday afternoon, the eight Predators players met up at the team facility, each with a small bag containing a few changes of clothes and other necessities. Street called up the limo company to confirm, they were already on their way, and within minutes, two unbelievably long, fully decked out limos pulled up to the facility.

About an hour later, the limos pulled up to the front doors of the Bellagio and let everyone out. Street wanted to have the limos accessible for the entire trip, so he bought the drivers two standard rooms. Dropping their stuff off in the suites, the players then made their way down to the strip. First order of business: the buffets. Knowing they had plenty of time to go to the buffet at their own hotel, so for the time being, they decided to check out the buffet at Caesars. These huge men stepped into the line, and immediately a panic set over the workers in the buffet. They’d have their work cut out for them feeding 8 football players. By the time they were done, they went through 56 plates of food, and three dealers and a pit boss had to shut down their section on the floor just to come up to the buffet and provide additional help.

Stopping down at the casino floor, the players began to go their separate ways. The Luxor had a blackjack event going on with double comp points, so McNugget, Johnson, and Lane made their way over to that. Meanwhile, Planet and Hamilton stuck around at Caesars at the roulette table, Jervis tried out some craps, and Afella stepped over to the nearly full high-stakes baccarat table. Street, taking a little while for himself, made his way over to Binion’s to see the Gallery of Winners before feeling somewhat inspired and playing in a $300 sit and go at the Rio. After winning the sit and go, he took his winnings and entered a 5-10 no limit cash game, where he sat for the next 4 hours. At the end of that time, after making about $2000 more, he got a phone call from Lane. The blackjack event was over and they wanted to meet back up. Street told them to meet him back at the Bellagio in half an hour.

Jervis busted out at craps, at which point he made his way over to the roulette table that Planet and Hamilton were at. Putting $420 on number 17 and having it hit, he made up for his craps loss and then some. Planet and Hamilton had made some money by this time as well, but nowhere near what Jervis’ single number strike was worth. The three of them left a few minutes later, and went over to check in on Afella at the baccarat table. Afella was ready to leave with his $4500 profit, so they made their way back to the Bellagio.

They got ready at the Bellagio then took the limo over to Palms, going out to the club Rain. While at the club, the players got a VIP section and several bottles of assorted high-end liquors, including three bottles of Cristal that Street bought with his poker winnings from earlier. Obviously several impressionable young women found their way over to the players, much drinking and dancing ensued, and the women came up to the VIP section with them. While the players worked their game, it turns out they didn’t need much, as “professional football player” and “millions of dollars” usually do the trick. The eight that went out to the club turned into sixteen on the return trip to the hotel.

They went to the hotel and “slept” only in the figurative sense, well some of them may have eventually passed out from alcohol consumption but certainly no one intentionally slept. Beds in Vegas are for other uses, and it’s likely that purpose was put into action by most if not all of them. The next afternoon, they decided to hit up the pool, although it was ridiculously crowded. In some instances, this being one of them, that’s actually a good thing.

After a few hours there, they went back out to the casinos again, Street returning to the Rio poker room and the others pursuing a variety of interests. Hamilton called up the women from the previous night to find out what they were doing, and made plans to meet back up with them later. He then called Street, who set up a reservation for 16 at the famed B/B Ristorante restaurant owned by popular televised chefs Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich. They still had several hours before the reservation, so they returned to their gambling habits. About half an hour later, Street looked up from his poker table at the newest tablemate. It was Afella. In about 10 minutes, so as not to be conspicuous, Street got up and went for a drink, during which time from halfway across the casino floor he texted Afella all the tells he had on the players. Afella tried to put some of it into action, with less success than Street but still making a fair deal of money. They stayed there until the dinner reservation, at which point Jervis and Planet got up from their table across the way to remind them it was time.

After dinner, they returned to the Bellagio, telling the women about their plans that night to hit up the club The Bank inside the Bellagio where they were already staying. They returned to their hotel, which was just up the street from the one the players were at, and agreed to meet back up in a few hours. The players made their way to the casino floor, not wanting to leave the Bellagio for just the short time they had, and some of them made their way to the sports book. UFSL rules dictated they couldn’t bet on football, but Hamilton and Planet put some money down on college basketball, Afella made a wager on a 5 game parlay in hockey, and Street bet the Euro qualifying soccer matches to take place the next morning. They sat around drinking and watching games for a while, then Johnson got a call from the women, who were outside. He and Street went out to get them, then led them to the sports book where the others were. At the end of one particular game they had been following, they made their way to the club.

That night went much the way of the first. No more needs to be said about that part of it. Anyway, the next morning, after spending a good 20 minutes looking around the hotel for their betting stubs from the night before, Hamilton, Planet, Afella, and Street went back to the sports book to collect their winnings. There was another double comp points blackjack event going on, this time at the MGM Grand, so they went there for a few hours, before heading back to the hotel to pack up. Soon, they left Vegas. It was early Sunday evening when they got back to the Predators’ practice facility, after which they all went back to their regular lives, surely to return to nearby Vegas again in the future.
