Finally the inaugural season for the UFSL has been officially started, and the pre-season games have already displayed some of the talent that the teams have already. The fans were excited to get a glimpse of their team’s stars in action, and we all know that there’s nowhere to go but up for these young men, but here are the ten players that have made a statement in their opening debut, so much so that they have earned a spot on the next hit show, Rockin’ Time!
OFFENSE
#5-QB Landon Carter, Stormtroopers: Landon did Tuesday what no other quarterback in the league was able to do, throw a touchdown. That alone, was the deciding factor in the Trooper’s win in their game versus the Nightmare. Landon didn’t really have a good night overall, only throwing for 25 percent and bringing a not so impressive 35.6 quarterback rating to the table, but he still get’s the 5 spot here for successfully tossing 6 points on the scoreboard, kudos to Landon.
#4-LM Darth Sidious, Stormtroopers: I usually don’t put lineman in my top 5, especially considering they’re computers and not real players, but hey, that’s just how bad this pre-season was offensively. Nevertheless Darth was baking pancakes all day on the Nightmare’s opposing rush, racking up a league leading 10 pancakes and allowing no-one to get to the quarterback. This would be a top 3 performance if this was an actual player, but he is docked for not being real. Still, give a round of applause to Darth for making the list.
#3-WR Keon Henderson, Stormtroopers: The troop has filled 3 of the top 5 spots so far, and coming in third is wide receiver Keon Henderson. Henderson caught 4 passes for 50 yards. He is tied for league highest in receptions, and has the most touchdowns, with 1. He still had a rough day however, dropping 2 passes, but hey, he caught it when he needed to. Of course I was on a different assignment when he caught that touchdown, or else you know what would have happened…still Keon gets the edge over the last two for the number three spot on the list.
#2-RB Ikechukwu Osuwah, Stormtroopers: When will the swarm of the storm ever end? Not now that’s for sure. Osuwah busted on the scene, surprising the Nightmare’s defense, rushing for 82 yards in 18 attempts, the highest total in the league. No fumbles is icing on the cake for Osuwah’s performance, but still, a touchdown would have been some sprinkles and a half-naked babe popping out of one. So I bet your wondering…if this guy was number 2, then who’s number one?
#1-WR Devin Street, Predators: The bright young prospect, and highly thought of coming into the draft, Devin Street. He proved to be an effective target out the gate for quarterback Rock Afella, catching 4 passes for a whopping 71 yards. Now you may be thinking that this isn’t all that, but the thing that stood out to me the most was the 0 drops statistic. Compared to the rest of the league, he had the best receiving performance for that one reason. So Devin Street wins the Pre-Season Offensive Rockin Player of the Week!
Now for the defensive part of the show(my personal favorite). My only grievance for defense is that I wish there was a stat for passes allowed for the corners, but sadly there is not, so I must go solely off of turnovers and tackles. There were plenty of those this week so it was hard to choose between the bevy of options I had. Still, I’m AJ so you know I’m not going to let you down.
DEFENSE
#5-DE Yoda, Stormtroopers: I don’t know what they do to their CPU’s over there in Seattle, but whatever it is, keep it up. Yoda got to Rayder not once, but twice in their game versus the Nightmare. What else needs to be said? The little green guy is a beast, and I’m not referring to Taylor Green.
#4-SS Demaryius Nicks, Nightmare: Nicks had a pretty well rounded game for a safety Tuesday. 3 tackles, 1 interception, and 2 deflections. That’s exactly the type of play the Nightmare is going to need from their secondary to live up to expectations. Now if only Nicks would start coming to practices who knows what his stats would be like?
#3-CB Little Planet, Predators: There were plenty of interceptions made on Tuesday…but that’s to be expected from a bunch of rookies playing basically backyard football out there. Out of all those guys however, Little got the most return yards off his, and that’s why I have him at the #3 spot. Not only that, but he managed to also get 3 deflections, which in my opinion is a very underrated stat.
#2-CB Bam Risso, Stormtroopers: Rayder only had a 2.1 quarterback rating in the game versus the Stormtroopers, and a main part of that is he threw more interceptions than completions. A main factor in those picks is Bam Risso. Bam is an interesting corner… not your average speed devil, quite slow actually, but he prides himself on being aware and able to catch. He showed us just that, picking the ball off twice against Rayder! That alone is enough to get the #2 spot on the list.
#1-CB Brady Lynch, Griffins: The first and only Griffin on the list, Brady Lynch. I could’ve sworn that Brady was a linebacker looking at his stats, but don’t be fooled people…he’s just a hard hitting corner. 4 tackles, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery, and to top it all off, 1 interception. That stat line kind of made me ovulate for a second there. No doubt that Lynch should be the Pre-season Defensive Rockin Player of the Week!
Well thank you for joining us here at Rockin Time, we hope you enjoyed the show. If you have something to say, put it in the comments below. Hey, that rhymed, I think I’ll write an entry song next time. Good Bye people, and remember, stay Rockin’!
