The week 1 regular season game between the New York Nightmare and the Reno Predators was all set to go on, the players were out on the sidelines on Thursday, and the ball was in the hands of the referee. Unfortunately, a freak ice storm happened, as well as an unprecedented cold front sweeping the area. They decided to sit around and wait it out, assuming it would just be brief, but as it turned out, it was quite a long-lasting ice storm, the end result of which was that it froze everything in the stadium. All of the balls grew hard and brittle, the fans' clothing froze to their seats, and even the players were susceptible to this. Thanks to an odd wind pattern based on the architecture of the stadium, there was at all times a chilling gust sweeping through the stadium right at the field- so not only did the players' clothing freeze to the seats, the players themselves were frozen and stuck where they were. Needless to say, the game had to be postponed, and it still has not gone on. Once the players thaw out, they will have to be taken for medical testing and see if they are even capable of sustaining life, but as football players often put the game ahead of even chancing death, let alone a few broken bones, I'm sure they'll drag their rickety, icy bodies out there and play the game before a doctor has even had a chance to look at them.
