Dick Lane Looking for Work The low viewership if the UFSL has been attaining has forced players to get outside jobs. “Yeah I took the league minimum to help my team. I’m a team guy. It doesn’t bother me a whole lot.” The search for more work is similar to the economic collapse across the world. Lane is far from the only person looking for a second job. However, Lane's job is quite unusual. “When they first told me about it, I wasn’t sure. I figured it would void my contract or something. (laughter) But you gotta’ do what you gotta’ do, right?” Dick Lane has taken a job as a rodeo clown on a local bull riding circuit. “I think the weirdest thing about it was trying to run in a sloppy area in cowboy boots. I had never warn cowboy boots before, and they were just uncomfortable.” Dick decided to forgo the culture shock and wear his cleats in the arena. “It was basically a matter of safety. I wanted to make sure that I could be safe and I didn’t feel the level of safety without my cleats.” He has however decided to make a compromise. “They’re like a hybrid cleat, er, boot thing. I would call them high top cleats but that’s not even accurate. They’re super high top cleats. They keep my lower leg stable while maintaining traction. It was a no brainer for me, and this is the perfect situation to use them for.” His coworker, Jesus Lopez, said, “Do’es ting’s are coo’, ese. When he no look I proly take ‘dem.”
