Mathieu, Predators Agree to 1-Year Deal -Las Vegas, Nevada
Weeks after the inaugural UFSL Draft, Tyrann Mathieu has finally found his match. Earlier today, the converted outside linebacker agreed to play starting linebacker for the Reno Predators. Reno consulted with Tyrann’s agent about a week prior to his signing, and the rookie linebacker has been impressed ever since. ”They were very aggressive about getting me on the team. They did what they needed to do to get me out here to the west coast and convince me that this is a place I can play for multiple years. I can’t wait to start,” Mathieu concluded.
Tyrann will play out a one-year contract worth the rookie minimum of 1 million dollars. While this isn’t exactly what Tyrann is looking for, he knows that this is an audition for his future. ”If I can prove to the Predators’ front office that I’m worth another look at the end of this season, I will be very happy. Just need to keep working hard and the bottom line will come afterwards,” Mathieu explained.
The rookie linebacker is expecting to start next week. With only a few hours of practice in, Tyrann understands that he will be fighting an uphill battle. But you have to start somewhere, right?
