I've seen one of these in every league I've been in, so I figured I'd start it.
Any thoughts on offseason news from baseball? Red Sox fan here by the way. I'll start it off by saying that the one thing the Sawx need right now is depth in their starting pitching. they also need to either move Bard to closer and Jenks to setup or Jenks to closer and Bard to setup.

For the Angels, I'm on the C.J Wilson bandwagon. For one, a starter is a need (not necessarily a front-line starter). Not to mention taking him away from the Rangers would be an added bonus.
The starting rotation would be:
1.) Jered Weaver (2.41 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, 198 K) 2.) Dan Haren (3.17 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, 192 K) 3.) C.J. Wilson (2.94 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, 206 K) 4.) Ervin Santana (3.38 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, 178 K) 5.) Jerome Williams (3.68 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, 28 K)
Then you also have Tyler Chatwood who could get replace Williams.
I'd also like to see them add a relief pitcher and catcher. If I have to suffer through another season of Jeff Mathis behind the plate...

I am a Jays diehard, so imagine my excitement with the MLB these days.
First off, I have to say...I really hope AA pulls off the acquisition of Yoenis Cespedes. I would probably jump for joy if he did..
As for the rest of the team, we need to get a true closer and the fact AA already said he is after a big-market guy is news that makes me smile. A Heath Bell, Papelbon, Street, etc. type of guy would really help out our team as we grow and improve in the other aspects.
Would love to see us get one of the big guys at first base, but my focus is mainly on the pitching. We have some great hitters..now if only Adam Lind could stay consistent..

As a Cards fan...Pujols and Furcal are who I want...maybe another bullpen arm.

FYI, that opens Santana to trade rumors I don't see the point, to be honest. That would leave them with Williams and Chatwood at the back of the rotation. Shaky. What happens if someone gets hurt? Even worse.

diehard Phillies fan.
Liked the Pap signing. Im praying we bring in Cuddyer, not just for my team, but Ive always liked the guy a lot.
Other then that I just hope we can either resign JRoll or get a suitable replacement for him.

It'd be cool for the Orioles to reel in a big name but you know how it is with Baltimore.

Sveum accepts job as Cubs manager, Astros to move to the AL in 2013, Red Sox still without a manager OR pitching depth. Damn.

Cubs fan here so you know I'm pumped about the new era in Chicago. Uh... Pujols is staying put, he's an Icon in St Louis and I don't think they'll let him go like that. Fielder will be signing with the Mariners. Cuddyer will sign with the Cubs and so will Mark Buerhle. That's just my 0.02 in all that.

ok, so the sox are gonna hire bobby valentine then kick the tires on getting andrew bailey or huston street
from there, who the fuck knows right. i personally wish they'd try to do something involving youkilis and a little more for a david wright trade. gotta figure both guys are gonna be moving soon, who knows right. Scutaro/Lowrie combo for another year then see where you stand. Find a RF, maybe Beltran or DeJesus. Stuck with Salty/Tek behind the plate again but whatever. Hope for the best out of Crawford, hope Ellsbury doesn't regress. You have a solid rotation with Lester, Buccholz, Beckett. Need to get something else in that rotation, Wakefield isn't going to cut it.

What do you guys think of this???
CHICAGO -- The Cubs are reportedly in contact with agents for Albert Pujols and Prince Fielder, and while chairman Tom Ricketts would not comment on either, he said it's not out of the question that the team would offer a long-term deal to anyone.
That call, Ricketts said, is up to Theo Epstein, the Cubs' president of baseball operations.
The Cubs are currently saddled with Alfonso Soriano's deal, which will pay him $54 million over the next three years, and at least one more year for Carlos Zambrano, who is owed $18 million in 2012. Those contracts were done under former GM Jim Hendry.
Asked if the Cubs would offer a mega deal to another player, Ricketts deferred to Epstein.
"Like I've always said, there is one person responsible for making those decisions, and one person accountable for those results," Ricketts said Tuesday. "So if [Epstein] believes strongly that's what's in the best interests of the team, then he's got my support."
According to ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick, the Cubs have contacted Pujols' agent to express their interest in the first baseman.
Crasnick said talks between the team and Pujols' agent, Dan Lozano, are in the early stages. The Cardinals and Marlins are actively pursuing the three-time Most Valuable Player and nine-time All-Star.
The Nationals are also bidding for Pujols, and the Cubs' alleged involvement may simply be one way to drive up his price.
FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal and Jon Morosi reported Tuesday the Cubs were interested in both Pujols and Fielder, a favorite of new manager Dale Sveum. FOX Sports said restrictions on amateur spending will make it more difficult to build through the Draft, something Epstein wants to do in Chicago, which is why they are pursuing Pujols and Fielder.

Reyes will be a Marlin now. And they're still shopping, did the Marlins rob a bank?
